India produces different kinds of non-timber forest and agricultural products abbreviated as NTFPs. It exports these products to various destinations on a global scale. The organisation responsible for carrying out the export of these materials is SEPC (Shellac Export Promotion Council). This Council was formed under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to bring about exports of shellac and lac-based products to various destinations globally. SEPC was renamed as Shellac & Forest Products Export Promotion Council (SHEFEXIL) recently. It presently caters to 860 products and earned a revenue of over 2000 US Dollars from exports just last year.
